Mini-reader freebie: Dot & Cora love to pla

I tried something new and would love your feedback.  I wrote a mini-reader which you can download for free by clicking on the picture below.

This is an activity that could be used many different ways.  Have your students:

After reading the story, students can:
*Circle the word wall words
*Draw a green box around the first letter or word of a sentence.
*Draw a red box around the punctuation mark at the end of the sentence.
*Highlight the focus skill of the week such as all of the r-controlled vowels, blends, or digraphs.
*After reading the story, let your students be the illustrator.  They will need to use the details from the story in the picture.  Remind them to pay attention to words such as black cap or brown boot.
*Answer the questions at the end of the story.

What do you think?

This is really cute! I would love to see how students visualize the bugs differently. That would be really interesting to see! Thanks for sharing. :)

I really like your book. My kids are supposed to reading on a level 4 or higher so I like that this wasn't an easy emergent book. I also like that they can draw a picture to go with the text that they read and your questions at the end are great. Thanks for sharing! I hope you will make more.
