Wolf Fingers

The seasonal Halloween stores are beginning to popup in my neighborhood strip centers.  These are a treasure trove for teachers.  One of my favorite discoveries in these stores was what I called "wolf fingers".  I think they were technically called werewolf fingers.  They looked like this, except mine have brown skin with dark brown fur.

My students loved to wear the wolf fingers when they read during reading group time.  Somehow these fingers had the magical powers to help them focus on the words more.  Hey!  Whatever worked is my personal philosophy . . .     I like to introduce these pointers with a unit about the 3 Little Pigs - to add a little thematic fun to it all.  You can also find witches fingers, monsters fingers, and other gruesome fingers at the costume store which my students also enjoy using as pointers.
