A bat unit is so versatile! You can incorporate it with your Halloween lessons. Are you not allowed to celebrate Halloween? Lessons about bats are a fun way to incorporate some seasonal fun that isn't Halloween. Is your class studying mammals? The informational text printables in this packet will enrich your lessons.
Interactive journals are a great way to add hands-on lessons to your plans. If you don't use interactive journals, you can also glue these printables to construction paper or notebook paper.
Stellaluna is one of my favorite books to read this time of year. These vocabulary printables are open-ended. Your students can write the definitions, use the words in a sentence, or write the part of speech of the words.
Students will compare Stellaluna to a bird after they listen to the story.
Bats by Gail Gibbons is a great book to teach facts about bats. There are two printables you can use after you read the book.
Facts about bats are incorporated into these "Batty about Suffixes" task cards. There are two versions of the task cards so you can differentiate. One version includes a form of the word that students will add a suffix to and the other version does not have a word. Answers will vary on the second version. An answer key is included for the first version.
