Good News!

Have you heard the news?  Teachers Pay Teachers is 3 million teachers strong!  Isn't that amazing what a teacher with an idea can do!

Through the years of shopping on TPT, I have found a few things that have made my shopping experience easier and quicker.  I thought you might like a few time saving tips!

Some of the TPT sellers have made custom categories.  If the sellers has made them, they will be located at the left side of the screen.  These are a shortcut for specific topics.  Click HERE and you can see mine.

One of the first things I had to learn was how to search in a seller's store.  In the beginning I went to the search box at the top of the screen and typed in my topic.  But, then hundreds of things popped up from hundreds of different sellers.  I wanted to look in one specific store.

To search in ONE STORE, you need to click on the store's name. (see orange arrow above).

The search box that will search within ONE STORE, is located next to "my profile".  Type in the topic and click quick find.

I hope these tips make your shopping experience more pleasant.  I know I enjoy my time more proficient since I figured out a few of these things.

I'm sure you've heard the news that TPT is having a sale on February 27th and 28th. My store is marked down 20%.  You can save an additional 10% if you use code TPT3 at checkout.

Don't forget about Fern and my Double Day Freebie celebration.  You can read more about it HERE.

My favorite past time is reading.  I am always looking for a new book to read.  One of the first places I visit when I enter a book store is the best sellers bookshelf.  There are always a few ones that are guaranteed to keep me up at night.  I look at best sellers at an endorsement from a fellow book lover.

One of the things I am going to begin doing is posting my best seller on my Facebook page. Don't forget to follow me!  Here is my current best seller:

Double Day Freebies

Have you heard the news?  Teachers Pay Teachers is now 3 million teachers strong! Isn't that amazing?  It was only a few short years ago that Paul Edelman, a former New York City teacher, came up with this idea of a marketplace where teachers could share and sell their teaching ideas with other teachers.  If you are like me and began teaching before teacher blogs and TPT, you remember how limited your resources were before the magic of internet.  When I began teaching our resources came from district provided materials, what we made in our spare time (what a joke, right?), the local teacher supply store (if you were fortunate enough to have disposable income), and generous teammates.  Now with teacher blogs and sites like TPT, there are many high quality free resources and reasonably priced lessons available with a few clicks.

Fern and I usually pick a couple of winners for our Dynamic Duo giveaways.  But, this month we decided to do something a little different to celebrate TPT's amazing milestone.  We are going to host a Double Day Freebie celebration on February 27th and 28th.  Visit our blogs each day to find out what that day's freebie is.  Each day, Fern and I will give a different lesson packet to each person that visits our blog.  Altogether you can get 4 lesson packets that are normally paid packets if you visit our blogs on February 27th and 28th.    This is our way of say thank you for helping make TPT 3 million strong.

In the meantime, don't forget to visit our stores and make your wishlist.  TPT is having a site wide sale on February 27th and 28th.  If you use code TPT3 at checkout you will save 10%.  Our stores will be on sale, too.  You will be able to save an additional 20%.  This is a great time to purchase those big bundles!

3 FREEBIES for you!

It has been a year since my friend, Fern and I began our Dynamic Duo monthly giveaways.  We have had a fun time working together and of course we love to give stuff away!

Fern recently came up with a new idea.  Each week, we are going to make one of our normally priced packets free for one day.  This is our way of showing a little appreciation to our followers who have loyally followed our blogs.  As an added bonus, we are going to invite a different blogger friend each week to join us.  Not only will you get free stuff, you might get to "meet" someone new and want to follow his or her store, too.  How great is that?!!!  Make sure you visit our blogs every Thursday!

Just a reminder:  You will not be able to leave feedback after we change it back to a paid for lesson.

Sklp Counting Tips

Skip counting is an important math skill.  There are many different ways to strengthen this skill.  Here are a few of my favorites:

This is always my students' favorite activity.  It is also a great activity to do when your students have too much energy!  Make a number line on the floor.  I like to use blue painter tape because it comes off the floor without leaving all the goo that other tapes leave behind.

When I introduce addition or subtraction, I make one number line.  A volunteer hops up and down the number line to find the answer.  Later on, I make a game out of it.  I make 2 number lines.   The class is divided into 2 teams.  One person from each team stands beside their number line.  I show them a flashcard with a problem.  The student has to hop up or down the number line, demonstrating the problem, landing on the answer.  The first person who hops up and down correctly earns a point for their team.  This is a noisy activity, but perfect for an inside recess.
